Magnus Holmen

At AMIFF 2025 Magnus Holmen will perform an audiovisual performance together with Viktor Bomstad with their film Sáhtána Álbmot / Djevelens Folk / The Devils Kin (2024).

Bio:

Magnus Skei Holmen (b.1991) in Stjørdal, is an artist and curator living in Romsa/Tromsø. His work revolves around moving images, curatorial projects and self-organized infrastructures, spaces where art is understood as both a sensory practice and a way of building connections, meeting places and communities.

In 2018, Holmen helped start the film collective HÆRK, which organizes screenings in various contexts at home and abroad with a foothold and perspective from the circumpolar north. Since autumn 2023, he has run Kurant Visningsrom in Tromsø together with visual artist Niels Nielsen – a platform for experimental and young artists in the north.

Holmen's work has been shown at the Lofoten International Art Festival - LIAF, Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia - EKKM, Tromsø Kunstforening, Kunstnernes Hus and Kristiansand Kunsthall. His films have also been shown at various festivals.
