Bio:
Elisabeth Brun (b. 1977) is an Oslo-based filmmaker, media artist and theorist whose work investigates how form, mediation, and technology shape human perception and knowledge. Through films, installations, texts - she explores the entanglement between media technologies and experiences of place, space, and time - often tracing these inquiries back to her origins in Northern Norway.
Brun holds a PhD in Media Studies from the University of Oslo and a Post-Master in Art in Public Space from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. After many years as a documentary filmmaker at NRK, she has developed an independent essayistic practice in film and media art.
Her work is awarded the Ivan Juritz Prize for Creative Experiment and has been presented nationally and internationally at venues such as Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, Lofoten International Art Festival (LIAF), Seattle Art Museum, The Norwegian Short Film Festival, Montreal Festival du Nouveau Cinéma and Vienna Shorts. She is the author of Place and the Moving Image (2025) published by Routledge.
