Silja Espolin Johnson has a background in film production and has worked across film and visual arts. In 2016, she helped establish Kunstnernes Hus Kino, as part of the artist-owned institution Kunstnernes Hus, and has since been programme manager there in addition to creating film/video-based exhibitions. Johnson has contributed to several initiatives to strengthen the circulation of artist- and independent film, including The Art and Film Alliance (Nettverk for kunstnerisk film) established in collaboration with the distribution collective Filmbyrået Jack, as well as through workshops and a youth film club. Johnson's education is from the European Film College in Ebeltoft, the Norwegian Film School and the University of Oslo (MA in Aesthetic Studies).
