Artist Bjørn Hatterud has been invited by Kjetil Berge, the head curator for AMIFF 2026, to create the festival's commissioned work for the year. Hatterud has conducted research in Harstad, and the commissioned piece will be a performance in collaboration with organist Maria-Daniela Raasch at Trondenes Church on November 21.

On November 18 at 6:00 PM, Harstad Library will host an author event featuring Hatterud in conversation about his new book, Far levde, og så var han død ("Father Was Alive, and Then He Was Dead").

Bjørn Hatterud (b. 1977) hails from the village of Veldre in Ringsaker municipality. He is a cultural writer, art critic, curator, and musician; he is a member of the Norwegian Broadcasting Council and creates noise music. His previous publications include Mot normalt (2018), Mjøsa rundt med mor (2020), and Blokka på Bjerke (2023). In Mjøsa rundt med mor, Hatterud described life as a gay man with a disability, set against a rural working-class background. The book won many hearts and received the norwegian Critics' Prize. Hatterud has also received the Critics' Prize, the Library Literature Prize, and the Fritt Ord Prize.

In the autumn of 2026, Hatterud will release a new book: Far levde, og så var han død.
